Confidence is something we all have inside us and have the potential to exploit in order to bring us happiness and success in everything we do. However, for most of us we lack self esteem and confidence in one, some or all areas of our life with a heightened sense of worry about what others think about us. For some severe fear is something that holds us back from enjoying life and doing the things we want to do and some people have such a low self esteems that they shy away from doing anything independently and expect support from others to reaffirm their actions and even feelings, passing the blame onto the people around them in some cases. Actions such as these can lead to such conditions as anxiety which is something that needs to be battled head on.

Our environment and the world which we live in has a huge effect on our lives and our confidence. The things we learn about the world and what goes on around us helps us to develop as people and forms our beliefs and perceptions which in turn effects our confidence. This is a natural thing to happen but what we can do is train ourselves not to think this way and look at the bigger picture so we don’t react to the things around us with such a quick response. It is so easy to let our past experiences and personality traits to take over and judge everything around us to our ideas.

By taking ourselves out of the picture and giving something an open minded view we can change the way we think and deal with things. This is a difficult thing to master but can be done if you really want it to, stay objective with things and don’t let emotion take over. For example, if a person tries talking to you in the supermarket you may immediately think they are trying to harm you in some way, steal from you or chat you up when they really might just want to talk to someone without an ulterior motive. If you take a holistic view you can weigh up everything they say, the actual scenario and how it makes you feel before making a decision about how you feel and act in this situation.

If you think negatively you will act negatively, it is as simple as that. This may sit well with you but by thinking about it and maybe changing it you will find that things in life that seem difficult now will become easier and things will happen that are positive and help you out giving you confidence and happiness. You might not be aware of what sort of woman you actually are but think about how you react to things, think about how you feel when you are in a situation you are not familiar with or is challenging. Do you feel defeated by it and stay away? Or do you go and grab it as an opportunity? If you are at a party do you go round and speak to people? Or do you get anxious and nervous about meeting people that you don’t know? Asking yourself questions like this will reveal a lot about your self esteem and confidence and you will know where to start to try improving different areas on this but it is only by looking at this bigger picture this can be done.

This is a journey of self discovery. This can sound a little silly but its just a case of improving yourself and taking control, not accepting things how there are and becoming a master at doing things. You can evaluate what is really happening and take charge rather than being ruled by your initial responses and emotions. H owever what you do have to be careful of is staying on a negative journey and becoming over critical of your self which can be beneficial as long as you can relate it to something positive to change it. If you only focus on the bad things you can feel overwhelmed and unable to change and become even more unhappy and stuck in yourself. It really is by looking at that big picture you will see the whole thing rather than something up close where you can’t judge what is the best thing to do, learn to do this and you will grow in confidence, stop worrying about the things that go on around you and everything in your life will follow.
